U of Colorado Boulder Physics Professor Emeritus Al Bartlett has given the following lecture over 1600 times over the past 40 years. In this important 8 part discussion, Professor Bartlett begins with the statement,
"The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function."
He then very clearly explains the importance the exponential nature of steady rate growth and it's implications for resource consumption and population growth. He dismantles what TV talking heads, corporate public relations and elected officials dramatically get wrong about American consumption, steady rate growth and the prospects of sustainability.
